How to Purchase a Server on Vultr

  1. Create an Account or Log In
    • Go to Vultr's official website and create an account if you don't already have one.
    • Log in to your Vultr dashboard.

  1. Add Funds to Your Account
    • Navigate to the Billing section in the dashboard.
    • Add a payment method (credit card, PayPal, or cryptocurrency).
    • Ensure you have enough funds for your desired server configuration.

  1. Deploy a New Server
    • In the dashboard, click on the Deploy New Server button.

  1. Choose a Server Location
    • Select a server location closest to your target audience for better performance (e.g., North America, Europe, Asia).

  1. Select Server Type
    • Choose Cloud Compute (Standard or High-Frequency Compute, depending on your performance needs).

  1. Choose Server Specifications
    • Under the Plan section, select the configuration with 1 CPU / 2GB RAM.

  1. Select the Operating System
    • Scroll down to the Server Image section.
    • Choose Ubuntu as the operating system.
    • Select the specific version of Ubuntu you prefer (e.g., Ubuntu 20.04 or 22.04).

  1. Optional Configurations
    • Enable IPv6, Auto Backup, or Private Networking if needed (additional costs may apply).
    • Add any Startup Scripts or SSH Keys for automated configurations and secure access.

  1. Deploy the Server
    • Review your server configuration.
    • Click Deploy Now to create the server.

  1. Access Your Server
    • Once the server is deployed, go to the Products section in the Vultr dashboard.
    • Click on your new server to view its details.
    • Use the provided IP address, username (usually root), and password to access the server via SSH.

Additional Tips

  • Use an SSH client like PuTTY (Windows) or the built-in terminal (Linux/Mac) to connect.
  • Regularly update your Ubuntu server using sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade to ensure security.
